An Arts & Crafts Brooch by Child & Child, finely enamelled in white enamel and richly coloured guilloche russet enamel. Seed pearl to centre. Company mark: sunflower symbol with CC to reverse. Child & Child were a prestigious jeweller, founded in 1880, with a retail store in Kensington, London from 1891. Queen Victoria and her son and daughter-in-law, the future King Edward and Queen Alexandra, were customers. The Pre-Raphelite painters William Holman Hunt and Sir Edward Burne-Jones were also customers. Child & Child manufactured a number of Burne-Jones pieces for him.
