A high quality set by a highly regarded figure in the Arts and Crafts Movement. A W Simpson, a friend of the eminent art critic John Ruskin, was a pioneer of Arts and Crafts revival in the English Lake District as well as producing designs by the celebrated architect and designer C F A Voysey. A comparable chair to these is illustrated in Hugh Wright’s book “The Beautiful Furniture of the Simpsons of Kendal” (2011), page 110
