Description

An Arts & Crafts movement tea caddy handmade by Herbert Dyer (1898-1974), a coppersmith of Mousehole, near Penzance, Cornwall. Dyer was influenced by the famous Newlyn School of craftsmen, and this piece dates from around the 1920s. The repousse work decoration includes motifs derived from the local fishing industry and marine life, including a Cornish lugger fishing boat. It bears craftsman’s impressed mark, ‘H. DYER’.
